Re: PC's

My niece who is very technical minded at 21 years old has a Mac laptop and I emailed her (as she's in Norway at the moment) and asked her if she thought I would get on with a Mac, and she replied that Mac's are a lot different from Windows and can be very difficult to understand and get used to. She said she's got friends that still find it hard to get used to them.

I went to college for 7 years learning Windows and Word Processing so I really don't want to lose all that I've learnt and being the age I am now I will find it hard to teach myself a whole new way of using a computer, I don't find it easy learning new things now. You're lucky Mags having a son that show's you how to use a Mac and having it all set up for you. My old computer had a bridging dongle Cassie but that didn't work very well in our house. I think like Azz said, I need a computer that's got wifi.

Thanks for all the replies and information, I've decided after alot of thought and reflection that I will go with Windows 7, whether it will be a desktop or laptop ...... we will see.

Re: PC's

Forgot to add, my 10 inch notebook I am using at the moment works perfectly fine has wifi connection so I need to either get a laptop or desktop but it must be wifi connected. My notebook is too small to use as the main computer although it is a brilliant little machine, I just need a bigger screen and keyboard.

Re: PC's

Alicat, don't forget you can loads Windows7 on to a Mac if you really wanted too (Apple give you this free software called bootcamp that allows you to easily switch between different OSs)

If you can, pop along to an Apple store and explain your situation to them and perhaps they will recommend a machine for you - it won't cost you anything and you'll also be able to see their 'genuis bar' where you can book appointments to talk to a specialist if you ever get stuck (I think it's free too!)

Either way good luck with your new computer
