Re: Fly Tipping

Bring back the rag and bone man. And as for the costs of trade waste?? my gardener has to pay to dump green waste that is then processed and sold.

Re: Fly Tipping

I've just looked at tipping charge hikes from 2011 to 2014.

In 2011 I paid £8k in charges, in 2014 I paid £9.5k for 100 tons less than 2011.

Re: Fly Tipping

The worst offenders are those who get rid of mattresses and settees .
Why the heck do people get rid of their mattresses and sofas so much?
I have had my settee for 25 years although my mattress is new but I expect it to last at leat 10 years it will probably see me out.
I was told that ' white van man ' is guilty of using urban areas as a drop off knowing the residents will pay the brunt but I'm not sure this is true .
In residential areas that are mixed i.e. Social and private housing the privately owned residents get charged social housing residents don't .

TPin
In the area my son lives in the charges run too just under £30 every time flytipping is removed .
I.e. People dump stuff and the private residents are charged .

Re: Fly Tipping

We still have a 'rag and bone' man who comes round once ot twice per month with his horse and cart - so small items of furniture/electrical stuff can be left by the gate and he collects it.

On a few occasions I have seen people leave stuff out with a notice on 'Free - please take' (or similar) - I bagged a small set of drawers for my craft room from three doors down.

Big stuff - the council will collect (Tuesdays in this area) - they charge £35 to take 10 items - so, if someone is booking and has less than 10, they usually ask around so the numbers can be made up and the cost shared.

Muddy, why do you have a mattress on your sofa?

At our local Tip, an events company run a ticket system which you pre-book in advance, to be fair there were only 5 vehicles in the queue, which is less than normal, so, there is absolutely no reason to Fly Tip.

Re: Fly Tipping

We used to have what was called "special uplifts" you got five items taken away free. No fly tipping. The council started to charge and the fly tipping started. Their own fault, not everyone can afford to pay.
