A university union president has sparked outrage after vowing to vandalise a WW1 painting because it depicts 'white men'.
Emma Dawes said she would 'paint over' the 1916 mural at the University of Southampton and called for it to be taken down.
The painting was created in memory of British students who died at war.
Writing online she said: "Mark my words - we're taking down the mural of white men in the uni Senate room, even if I have to paint over it myself."
Now busy apologising.
And I do so love this type of apology which seems the norm these days which set out to give the impression that they were misunderstood, or my words were taken out of context, or the more modern I did not mean for my Tweet to be taken seriously.
