You don't get it do you.

They are not teaching gambling they are just trying to teach the % in maths and the out come...nothing what ever to do with gambling.

Ok you picture showed children holding cards ..Shock Horror but nothing to do with gambling.

Ok so in the future some might have a head start in gambling if they wish to take it up, but its an easy way of teaching %

I can remember playing Roulette, Newmarket, Gin Rummy, Poker etc., with my brother when we were children - we used the money from the Monopoly game as ante. Neither of us ever became gamblers - but - we were both good at mental arithmetic and at handling money.

Children are more likely to be corrupted by the endless arcades of one armed bandits that seem to be everywhere now than they are by learning card games in school.

My children were never permitted in those corrupt places.

What?

You aren't going to talk about the you-can't-make-this-stuff-up irony in the article just below it titled, "A DRUG-riding motorcyclist who caused a crash in which he himself was seriously hurt has been jailed"?

The article includes our sad-little-Send-in-the-Clowns-tragic-hero with a tattoo of two tears just below is left eye.

Now there's classroom material, for you!

Re: Primary school maths club casino!

I learned physics trying to skateboard down a gravelly hill, biology watching two dogs "wrestling" and later producing puppies in the yard next door, chemistry mixing gutter water and water color paint water and then daring my brother to drink it (which was followed by another physics/ethics lesson from my dad), how to use a dictionary by searching for the dirty words, fractions by dividing a candy bar into zillionths according to how many begging friends I had around, and more ethics and government by occasionally trying to lie to my parents. Aaaah, forget the classroom - life is such a good teacher.

I don't know, I can see the problems with the card playing in the classroom but that photo of those cherubs holding those big cards made me laugh out loud.

Do remember in the late 40s when I was about 5 a teacher handed out dominos to the class and we had to add the spots up.

I was unlucky I had a six ..three and failed.
