Nhs

I had an automated phone call today.
From the NHS
Asking me to confirm my appointment,

If one doesn't cancel their appointment,"..then just doesn't turn up.

Tha automated voice told me,it costs the NHS....£160.

Re: Nhs

Was this a public awareness service? Why did we need to know this?

Re: Nhs

Gosh ... I had a call yesterday from a mouthy woman purporting to be from my energy provider rambling on about smart metres, demanding to know my full postcode before she promised not to phone me again before 2020!

As if 2020 was an age away.

I think I'll just give up answering the phone.

I wouldn't dream of it.

I thought this thread was about unsolicited phone calls.

In our GP surgery, they have one of those big screens that roll round giving info on the surgery, advertises any job vacancies, and also tells you how many patients didn't turn up for their appointments each month.

It varies slightly each month of course, but mostly they say around 100 - 130 patients don't turn up each month, without letting them know.

Personally, I think that is disgusting when it so hard to get an appointment nowadays, then those selfish buggers have one and just don't bother to show up!

It's the same at ours Mups , I think people who fail to keep an appointment should pay a penalty.

In my appt letter,it does state, that if you fail to turn up at the hospital,to see your consultant.

You will be handed back to your GP.

Re: Nhs

Well the figure is interesting. According to a telegraph article the value originated from a study by Barts health in London. So it's not representative as it's based on the estimates for that hospital. You can't apply the same value to say Yorkshire. Fact is that hospitals frequently overbook because they expect some non attenders. But it provokes quite a psychological reaction. I guess that was the idea.
