I use PMs to send messages to friends or people who are having a bad time. In fact I would use them to send any personal message, if I thought they would not want the topic to be posted on the open forum.I also phone some members.... but that can be difficult if you don't know their phone number!

I message a couple of members who I feel I have a connection with, I've made some good friends on here and I do consider them friends even though I never met them. I don't however appreciate messages sent out of malice, unfortunately I have had one recently but I won't be receiving anymore. No, the messages I have received and have sent have been lovely. I think it's good to send messages it means you feel you have formed a bond with someone, I love to make friends.

I feel the same as Bruce and Spitty, I'd rather post on the open forum, but would return a PM should I receive one, it's just polite and good manners.If I had a really personal message for someone that I would not like posting on the open forum (like falling in love with a member..
) I would prefer to email them...I don't like commenting about people behind their backs, and I don't like PM's with criticisms about other members either.....
That's not why I come on the forum....

I have given one or two people my email address but then what can I say on an email that I can't in a PM? If I was to be meeting someone from here I would certainly give them my number so that we know where each other is etc., but that's not likely to happen - although I'm up for a chat with anyone on here to be honest.
