On meeting a soldier

Many years ago I got a student job working for a delivery company. We turn up at the then US base and are stopped at the gate. Guns in holster but unclipped. We have to search the lorry sirs,OK you can go on..... sorry to give you a hard time. That was the first time I had ever seen a real gun.

A bit scared at first to be honest,but he was just a soldier doing his job,called us Sir and said sorry if he had given us a hard time. We did go back several times over that long vacation and once one got used to the checks it was easy.

Yeah, they can make some a tad nervous.
Others ask to see them.
Some just go very very quiet.
Some run.
