Re: Are You a Collector?

I used to collect 'raw ingredients' - anything that could be 'brewed' and turned into wine. Used to go hunting amongst the hedgerows for: Damsons, blackberries, sloes, apples, stinging nettles, dandelions, gorse flowers, oak leaves, birch sap. Made many demijohns (gallon jars) of wine. Regrettably disability now prevents me doing this, so have given up making wines. However, in the past, it wasn't unknown for me to lay on my settee watching television with a gallon demijohn on the floor beside my head and a syphon tube in my mouth connected to the demijohn.

To preserve certain ingredients and stop them rotting, they are 'pickled' in either alcohol or vinegar (which is 'gone off' wine). When I finally 'pop my clogs' I intend to be 'well preserved' - pickled in alcohol!!!!

I collect mallard ornaments. They're all over the place, even in the bathroom and a couple of doorstops.

Re: Are You a Collector?

Aha, so I'm not the only one to resurrect an old topic!

I collect wind chimes and Native American dream catchers. I have about nine wind chimes dangling from my hall ceiling, I have one in the bathroom, one in my bedroom, two in my living room, and I have a wooden one from the Far East in my kitchen. I love them.

Most of my Native American dream catchers were sent to me by my friend Pixie in Canada, but I picked a few up myself when I went to the USA three years ago.

Re: Are You a Collector?

I used to collect frogs and still have some favourites. One is carved from a piece of coal (Newcastle), one is fine porcelain from Portugal, one is Steuben Glass but most are flea-market finds, some of them comical.
