Good question, I would not have started to smoke as a teenager. Gave up 2 years or so ago.

I think many would agree with that Maryl
I smoked for a number of years and mainly started because my friend who smoked used to say 'go on have one' so I did and bought my own to repay her.
Big mistake.

My parents were against us marrying so we had to wait until we were 21.

Aw that's sad I can't remember did you need their permission to marry in those days..
If not you should have done what I did, told them about it after you got married (I was over 21)

Yes, you had to be 21 then not 16 as it is now.
We did think of eloping but my wife did not want to upset her parents.

I think I would be interested in seeing how my life panned out if I had left home when I was 18.
