Not only did the bereaved have to cope with the knowledge that no-one received the slightest punishment for the 144 deaths, but an appeal fund for the villagers was plundered so what remained of the lethal tip could be removed.Your darling Harold Wilson and his Labour government didn't want to upset the NCB because they needed their help in running down the coal industry.Lord Robens of the NCB offered to resign but it was all pretend,he knew his job was safe.
