I agree yes. You can work on shyness and overcome it for sure. An example is my father in law. He was a jazz musician but was so shy he found it difficult to go on stage sometimes unless he was half drunk. He didn't want to become dependent on alcohol to give him "Dutch courage"..He was encouraged to try amateur acting and he took the plunge. He said that helped him a great deal. I think you can overcome all sorts of things for yourself. But I don't think you can change other people. You can encourage them to change. But you can't make them change their traits. Just their behaviour.

You can change your attitude to them and their traits - which can help in a lot of cases.
