Do you check your till receipts ?

I always have a quick look at my till receipts, last week I noticed an item costing £7.50, it said 'Lemons 25 @ 30p ' I had bought two lemons @30p each and been charged for 25.

A little while ago I did 'big shop' and although I had bought many things was still shocked at the total cost. On scrutinising the bill I saw saw an item totalling £20, I had bought two packs of butter @ £1 each total £2 and been charged for 20 packs

It certainly pays to check your receipts!

I seldom check mine too, another mistake I make is not counting my change, stupid I know but you tend to trust folks don't you.

I usually only check if its very different from what I expect.
I do know someone who's very careful about checking. She challenged the bill for a food shop in M&S just before Christmas., very brave with a mile long queue. The manager came. They unpacked it all put it through again and it was right the first time

Yes, I always check the receipt

Just last night I went in to Morrisons, got some stuff and Rocky some Rice/rawhide bones and it clearly said £2.79 on the front label. Went to the till and they charged me £3.79 !! She didn't even seem bothered, just said to go to the desk and tell the lady I've been overcharged £1 to get the refund.

Makes you think whether they know it happens often!

Re: Do you check your till receipts ?

I always watch each item on the screen as it's being scanned..I often am charged for snow peas instead of English peas (latter are cheaper), porcini mushrooms for shiitake, etc. It's much simpler to have the clerk correct it then and there than to have to go to the Service Desk for an adjustment. It happens often so it's wise to check very carefully, which I do. Oh, and they frequently forget the 5 cent per reuseable bag credit; granted it's only 5 cents, but it adds up. Yes, I am a picky customer!!

I always check my Sainsbury's receipt ever since I was overcharge on an item....... have found a few mistakes since as well!

I'm always trying to pack my goods quickly that I don't have time to check the items as they are being scanned.

I only shop at Waitrose which is around the corner to our house. I don't check the till receipt but when I get home I give my husband my till receipt and he goes through it, he says "did you have two lots of ........?", then "did you have two lots of ............ ", and then he adds it all up. He only does it the same reason as you Meg, incase they've overcharged me.

Re: Do you check your till receipts ?

Never used to until a similar situation to Meg happened about 6 months ago. Seemed to cost me more that particular week for more or less the same things so I checked. I had been overcharged on a couple of items which amounted to about £4 I check every week now as £4 is better in my pocket than Morrisons
