Yes, I always offer tea or coffee, I generally get offered the same, when I visit others.

Although Tess, if you came to visit me, I might offer you some wind chimes.
Thanks for the reminder - mine are still in their winter hibernation - time to put them out again!

Re: Visiting and visitors

Noooooooo!!!!

Why is it that most of our social activities include eating and drinking? There always seems to be some sort of refreshment involved.
I wonder why we can't seem to do anything without it?

No, I made that bit up. But it is true, she did wash and iron my jeans.

Nooo, I don't offer refreshments to visitors, they'd think they were welcome and might even...come back

Seriously, I do make them a drink but no nibbles, I don't keep biccies and things in the house coz if I did I'd eat them all and end up the size of a brick sh*t house.

Oh, hang on a minute.....

Never offer a tradesman the HobNobs unless you mean it.

Re: Visiting and visitors

If I’m not offered a cuppa, I usually ask, relying on my natural charm and boyish good looks, sometimes a biscuit is offered, I went to repair a dishwasher at a cafe in aysgarth, and had some lovely homemade biscuits, sometimes I’m offered a bacon sandwich, although there are places that, I’m not offered, ( that’s why I ask) ,it tends to be the foreign workers who don’t understand the British workman and his need for a cup of tea

Re: Visiting and visitors

Workmen are always offered copious amounts of coffee or tea. But I draw the line at bisc's etc. which is mainly 'cos I only usually have wheat free stuff in.

Visitors get tea or coffee or water. Never have pop type drinks in the house and none of my friends drink them anyway.

When I go visiting I usually have coffee, as most folk I know drink Tetley and I only drink PG

Yes I always offer guests things to eat and drink, even repair people.
It’s the polite thing to do.

Re: Visiting and visitors

When we visit our son and his wife she always offers tea or coffee, I ask for water as she makes the worst tea and coffee I have ever tasted it's so strong you stand a spoon upright in it
