In our locale they've been broadcasting digital for years, the only problem was the analogue signal from the same transmitter was draining the power which caused "pixelation" (another good word for the word thread) on the TV screen.

Once they shut down the analogue signal all the power will go to the digital signal so this will stop the interference.

Here in the States they were broadcasting both analog and digital from the same station until the (much lamented) death of analog. Never been the same since! (End of rant!! )
