'Family words'

I hope every family has its own special words and it's not just us (but maybe? )

So (from baby words) shoes or socks, especially when misplaced, are woo-woos (sometimes feet can be woo-woos too)

We have other baby words too, like bup, for a drinking vessel (half bottle half cup I suppose.)

However, as senility creeps (rushes?) in, we find that we forget words too, and have to use descriptors instead. So, no more atlas or hammers in our house. Instead we ask for 'book of maps' and 'thing for knocking in nails'
Oh dear

Re: 'Family words'

My son had his own words for things
Elephants = Ongars
The moon = nail (it took me awhile to work this out then I realised the moon at times looks like a finger nail.
M & S = 'Marks expensive'

DM early senility has arrived here too , I don't always bother with names I point to the object instead or mime

Have to pass on this one; can't recall anything oddly named when I was a child; and have been familyless since my Dad died in '64.

The only one I can think of that I still use is brewbin for bedroom, it came from my teenage years when I used to make home brews in my bedroom.
