Re: Queue Jumping........

I once had my head smacked into a metal pole by an old woman (not a lady!) elbowing me out of the way in a bus queue so I don`t find it endearing. How can we expect children to show good manners if their elders don`t show a good example?

I would happily have given way to a very old lady...but 92?...a mere chicken

Your experience bought to mind something that happened to me a few years ago It was a snowy day and I was walking down a road in Shrewsbury which was quite narrow cobbled with a very narrow footpath an old lady was approaching from the opposite direction I would have stepped off to let her through but when I got close to her she wacked me with her stick and sent me flying into the road I tore all my tights ripped my skirt and was bruised badly and she just carried on walking ... Sorry but a lot of old people are extremely rude sometimes youngsters are far more caring and polite...

Re: Queue Jumping........

please and thankyou. the 2 forgotten words.
the times ive held the door open for ppl and they just walk past as if it was expected of me. and not even a thanks. so now i say loudly A THANKYOU WOULD OF BEEN NICE.
i had a scruffy chavvy lad hold the door open for me. and i said manythanx. that was nice of you, he gave me a beaming smile.
but i get really fed up with alot of those who dont say a word. makes me feel like not bothering.but its not in me. but i wont stand up on the bus now.ive done all that b4 and its my turn to sit down.

Re: Queue Jumping........

I've noticed that it seems to be the younger people who are more courteous. There are a lot of students on my bus line and when I board and all the front senior seats are occupied it's normally one of them who will give me a seat rather than the adults.

Not necessarily , manners dont always come with age , or youth.

Take the young man(boy) of around 18/19 who pushed me out of my seat on the airaplane coming home from Portugal last weekend.

I got to the seats first, my hubby was a few people behind me, but this young boy and his friend wanted to sit where I had decided to sit.. he pushed me out of the way, told me I cant have those seats, because he is there before my hubby..

A very rude young man, no one had taught him any manners while he wa growing up.

That's probably because his parents have no manners either Jackie.

Re: Queue Jumping........

I always make a point of thanking anyone who gives me a seat or holds a door. Rudeness can be contagious, I hope courtesy helps a little.
