Re: Dandelions.
It kills me the hatred for these 'weeds'! We live in the country so we could care less if people up the road want to mow down everything in sight. We realize there are laws too
We let everything grow & have ended up over the years seeing some beautiful meadow type flowers.
We even have 3 free apple blossom trees that sprouted up! Nature is wonderful. I also know not everyone has the ability to let nature happen. We've only been that lucky in the past 7 yrs.
Many of these 'weeds' are plants that people now go the nurseries & pay big $ for, calling them 'wildflowers'. Even milkweed grows freely on our property whereas back in the city we would've been shunned for doing that, probably hauled off to the slammer, ha ha!
Anyways, all that said, unfortunately some people don't have a choice whether they like these plants or not, if they don't do what everyone else does, they're tattled on or looked down on as 'strange'.
Did you know the lush green grass you try & grow is not really indigenous? That's why SO many people work so hard at it, spending $ on fertilizers, poisons, mowing, watering, etc etc just to attempt that beautiful lawn.
We like life easier
Did you also know that the monarch butterfly heavily depends on the milkweed & the lowly, but beautiful dandelion is the very 1st flower the honey bee needs when it comes out of hibernation? Imagine the poor things waking up hungry, come out to look for those pretty yellow flowers to feed from & there's nothing there.
Who likes honey
