Isn't it ironic that one of the main reasons for leaving was the loss of sovereignty of the British Parliament but now, in a rare show of unity, that same parliament has apparently exerted its sovereignty by voting to prevent a 'no deal' exit?
...or that is how I understand it from the reports in the media.
So is it the EU's deal or no Brexit? The latter seemingly looking more likely by the day especially as the PM selection farce continues squandering the time for negotiation before 31 October.
Not quite.
1. David Cameron told every household by leaflet and verbally in the commons during the Parliamentary vote for the referendum that the government would deliver on the result.
2. The leaflet also said we would leave the customs union and the single market - no mention of a trade deal, in fact the Conservatives (with Mr Obama), Labour, Lib Dems all campaigned on behalf of Project Fear telling us what a disaster it will be ... because we will have no deal.
3. Parliament voted 90% in favour of triggering A50 and to leave the EU with or without a deal
4. Parliament voted 90%+ in favour of the withdrawal act to leave the EU with or without a deal
4. The conservatives were voted in the General Election of 2017 on a mandate that said "no deal is better than a bad deal".
Labour also stood on a mandate of "respecting the decision of the referendum" (look where they are now).
5. May went to Brussels and got a deal. Parliament voted against the deal by a whopping majority 3 times.
6. Now the only option (nobody will reopen the "deal") is to leave with no deal, however Parliament now want to leave "with a deal" but the one they have they don't want - see point 5.
7. Parliament want to leave with a comprehensive free trade deal which is to be made while we are still a member of the EU - even though this is against EU law (weird I know)
8. Parliament do not want to leave with no deal even though the government has spent over £4 billion of public money investing in preparations for a "no deal".
Now Gina Miller says that she will prevent the UK leaving without a deal because that is best for britain (excuse the pun) - read the points above.
Make sense ?
Thats why we are in this mess - its because of Parliament not because of the referendum. The decision is clear - we want to leave and that decision was handed to Parliament to deliver when the results came in. The issue is Parliament is full of remainers (most of them representing leave constituencies) which resulted in Nigel Farage forming the Brexit Party, which quickly become the largest party in the UK and the largest national party in the EU Parliament, even though its only being going for about 4 months.
Back to (Soros funded) Gina Miller - she wants Parliament to be "sovereign". If you read above, it is anything but sovereign because it continues to act on behalf of itself and not on behalf of the people. What we ended up with is our own version of the EU Mafia in our own Houses of Parliament.
We must leave on 31st October 2019 or 5 days later, look what anniversary we will be celebrating ... in a big way !
Get it ?
