Wouldn't it have needed to be three numbers, though?

If it were the old D suffix, it could be OLD 50 D

Re: Private Number Plates

I have a personalised plate.
Only problem is I have to change my name each time I get a new car.

That would probably be cheaper.

Re: Private Number Plates

I assume that by private number plate you mean a personalised plate. I have one because when I bought my Mitsubishi Starwagon in 1990 the number plate was PUZ as was the next number plate on the pile. I ywasn't having a brand new car called PUZ. The lady behind the counter at the RTA suggested I get a personal plate for $100 so I got my three initials. The plate is mine for life so when I buy a new car I just get the plates swapped over.

Since then the RTA has started charging an annual fee but, as I say, my plate is mine for life and no annual fee.

Unlike the UK the number plate doesn't stay with the car for its life, it is stamped out by the state government and if damaged you just take it in and they swap it for another pair of plates (they charge of course) unless you buy a personalised plate

Re: Private Number Plates

I used to have a personal number plate on one of my cars, ROX. It was on the car when I bought it, was nice while it lasted but left with the car when it was time for an update.
