Re: Fruit salad.

I prefer it done as a brulee

A good handful of small round amaretto biscuits thrown in the bottom, drizzled with 30yr old Pedro Ximinez sherry (dark, raisiny and uncious), fruit on top and then the whole covered in creme fraiche. Brown sugar sprinkled on top and crozzled with a blow torch.

Yum!

Re: Fruit salad.

I'm on the Slimming World diet and all fruit is FREE!! So I'm eating lots and lots of fruit. The fruit this summer has been wonderful and I've decided the best is bought from Lidl. I put whatever fruit I have, but probably including cantaloupe melon and strawberries...........and cover it with a wonderful fat free yoghurt! Delicious!

Re: Fruit salad.

I avoid it. Fruit Salad is far too much trouble, the tins keep exploding in my cupboard.

Re: Fruit salad.

Good grief, Bruce, thankfully I have never had a tin that did that!
Is it due to bad canning in the first place - or being overlooked in the cupboard for too long?

Being overlooked I guess. It happened twice so I think something in the juice is corrosive to tin because I have tins of baked beans far older and they look fine
