I have a pen friend, an American who lives in Boston MA.

Glastonbury is a nice place. Ok its my spiritual home being an old hippie type, but there's plenty to see there.

I looked online at the Wilderness Gathering briefly but it did look interesting to me. I will find out more.

I think you can avoid spaghetti junction by taking the toll road but I've driven through it lots of times and apart from the traffic jams had no problems. Have you got a sat Nav?
Yes, you're right about that.

The M6 toll takes you away eastwards towards London although you can then pick up the M42 and pitch back around to the M5 ....but it's expensive.

I have travelled the M5/M6/A7 from Bristol to Scotland probably a thousand times and never once had a serious problem through Birmingham. The Smart motorway system has vastly improved traffic flow.

The area around Preston and around Stoke can be far more problematical.

If you choose your timings right.......no problemo.

As for an earlier comment about Glastonbury being run down!!!!!!
Noooooooooo!

It's Bohemian.....Hippyfied.......Atmospheric......

That's it's Charm ( and you can get plenty of those there!!)

The last time I went to Glastonbury (3 or 4 years ago) I was really disappointed by the commercialisation of the village. It was about as spiritual as a cow pat!

Re: Glastonbury out of season

Despite visiting Glastonbury a few times I've never been up the Tor.
It's one of the places I want to visit this year but maybe when I have more energy.

Visited Glastonbury in approx 2000 - lose track of dates and journeys these days! - it was obviously off season - now when was that June/july and '99 actually - it was very quiet - town was empty tourist shops empty - main pub empty - main carpark empty - lovely except the narrow road up to the tor - packed jammed with cars rear to bonnet - and a steady stream of humanity walking the remainder up the hill - very selfish I thought as I didn't spot any zimmer frames!

Just roll back down!
Don't go round it anticlock-wise 3 times though! Things happen!
I think that's right...
...or is it clockwise?
