Re: Spiders in my house!

I like spiders in the house, well Huntsman anyway. They don't make webs and they eat real nasties like cockroaches.

This little fella was in my bedroom last year.

Now these blokes I am less fond of but they only live outside. A family has been living in my garage door for decades (I see their eggs) We call them Redbacks (I wonder why) but I think other countries call them Black Widows.

This small one was in a plant pot I was using.

All spiders are venomous but only the Redback and the Funnel Web are really dangerous. No one dies from a spider bite because of the anti venom though I lost one dog to a Redback many years ago

Do people keep anti venom in the house or does it have to be given by a doctor?

Re: Spiders in my house!

I put conkers around my house and on my doorsteps . They’re supposed to deter spiders

I did empty the hoover onto the grass at the bottom of my garden
susan, I had lots of baby spiders in a mug at the back of one of my kitchen cupboards with a long web going from the cup!

Re: Spiders in my house!

I'm a terrible coward with spiders so when I called out for help last night Nathan came to my aid thinking I was exaggerating and the enormous beast was only going to be small, we all fell about laughing at the rather womanly scream he gave as he ran from the room, only brave person was grace who bundled it up and put it outside, it was bigger than a side plate ! Horribly hairy !

They don't work, I've tried it & one spider, a harmless one, built it's web right over & around the conkers on the window sill in the front porch.

Isn't it funny how your eyes can notice the slightest movement...be it a spider or whatever? When I see a spider, I look to my two kitties sleeping soundly...and think to myself, "why do you two think you are here...WAKE UP!"
