Leonids Meteor Storm 17/18th November

If you have clear skies tonight or tomorrow you might be able to catch a glimpse of some meteors from the Leonids meteor shower, you really need a dark location to see them and preferably when the Moon has set...

Details here

Moon sets around 00:30am in the UK

Thank you very much DW, I'll look out for that.

Can you just explain whether it means tonight AND tomorrow night, or tonight running into tomorrow morning please?

I think you get them when we run through....no I don’t know I need to google

I think it’s basically saying it’s better between midnight and dawn, rather than in the evening up to midnight, the Moon also sets just after midnight tonight so the darker it is the more chance you have of seeing shooting stars

I’m still up at that time so I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed it’s a clear night and I’ll see the meteor shower...

Thanks Colin

Thanks Colin.

I have been known to freeze outside looking for the meteor shower in the past. Doesn't seem too cold tonight but there is a slight mist at the moment.

That has a good chance of being an early one from the Leonids...

Just lie on the lawn your neck will be fine
