Ireland [the republic] and Hamas - mirror images?

The recent UN gathering dismissed the proposal by Israel and USA to condemn Hamas and call for an immediate cease fire!

However it was very interesting to see the resolution proposed by Ireland “The brief resolution, proposed by Ireland, called for “the achievement, without delay, of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East on the basis of the relevant United Nations resolutions,” including Resolution 2334.

It also demanded “an end to the Israeli occupation” and reaffirmed the assembly’s “unwavering support… for the two-State solution of Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security within recognized borders, based on the pre-1967 borders.”

It was passed with 156 “yes” votes, six “no” votes and 12 abstentions.
What a mirror image of the Republic of Irelands’ own history of demanding an end to the British occupation – a two state solution of N.Ireland and S.Ireland living side by side in peace and security within recognized borders!
