The Browning Version

Film based on the 1948 play of the same name by Terence Rattigan. Set in a boys public school and the Classics teacher in the play, Crocker-Harris, is believed to have been based on Rattigan's Classics tutor at Harrow School. Good film on Talking Pictures yesterday.

I do remember two films of that, one probably from the 50s with Nigel Patrick and Michael Regrave but I recall it was packed full of British stars of that era and the other many years later with Albert Finney.

Funnily enough I remember the 50s version better than the later one (no idea what year)

I have a DVD of that - with Ian Holm as 'the croc' and Judi Dench as his appalling wife. It is excellent - as are most of Terence Rattigan's plays - he was obviously a keen ;people watcher'!
