Re: A Genuine Question for Remain Posters

2) Why, when the result of a democratic vote has been established, can't all of our MPs work together to achieve the best result for the country... by discussing what we should have been negotiating with the EU?

2) Why, when the result of a democratic vote has been established, can't all of our MPs work together to achieve the best result for the country... by discussing what we should have been negotiating with the EU?

Let’s sort this once and for all ... the House of Commons voted to give the unwashed a referendum and actually put into law that the result would be acted upon , the EU at the same time said this will be a once in a lifetime referendum and the result will stand .... obviously both sides never dreamt a leave vote would be the result but wanted to get rid of farage and UKIP .
So the result was given and we triggered article 50 ...but Westminster is full of remainers and instead of preparing to leave they have decided to change the law again and said we now cannot leave without Westminster agreeing to it ... they’ve tried anything and everything ... alongside this we have had the very same mp’s voting opposite to what their constituencies voted for ... we’ve had tories only a month ago making a no confidence to get rid of Theresa and yet tonight you can bet you last dollar they will support her in a no confidence vote as the last thing any government wants is an election especially this sad bunch as they have just spent two years going back on everything they were elected on !!!!!

A couple of fairly naïve statements there TBH.

There has been no intergovernmental discussion because as soon as the referendum result came in LEAVE, the EU took control and basically instructed our politicians what to do from that point on (imho).

The EU doesn't care what our politicians think, nor what the people of the UK think. They have no intention at all of respecting the referendum result, they are NOT going to allow us to leave.

Everything we have seen since the referendum is a staged pantomime, scripted by the EU.

There's no point whatsoever, Corbyn and his cronies getting involved, the EU simply isn't interested. Everyone, both Tory party and Labour party will have been instructed to play their parts in this circus sideshow. That is why Labour haven't had any plans of their own to offer. They've clearly been told to stay relatively quiet, to not get too involved and just continue to do their 2-party politics role of berating the Tories at any opportunity.

We have to stop directing our focus towards our political parties and their leaders. That's a total distraction to what is actually going on. This is not about Teresa May doing this or that. It's not about Corbyn promising this or that.

It's about the elitist powerful members of the EU taking control of OUR government and political system and making sure that BrExit does not happen.

This is why we haven't had any deals tabled for the 2 year stretch until the very last minute.

The deal was never meant to be a goer. It was set up so that it would be rejected. They wasted 2 years absolutely deliberately to give them time for this colossal onslaught on social media and TV/radio. They bought themselves 2 years to engage in media brainwashing of the weak minded and gullible. That is as clear an indication as you could wish for that they DO plan to hold a 2nd referendum with the intention of totally reversing the result of the first one. It IS going to happen.

This is why every forum is being flooded on a daily basis with stooge multi-alias posters endlessly creating posts about how bad leaving would be and esp how catastrophic No Deal would be.

It's all a con.

This is a dire and desperate situation. It is a plain war any way you cut it.

If a foreign country marched in tomorrow with troops saying they were taking over our government and our country we would be up in arms, literally.

In the modern world the same thing is achieved by stealth and skulduggery. It IS happening imho. The EU is controlling our government.

May's deal was never ever meant to be a real deal. It was always meant to be one that would be voted down. It was all just time wasting.

They will force through a 2nd referendum as soon as they are confident that they have swayed enough people to vote Remain the next time around.

Our democratic country has been invaded by stealth.

If we don't want to be part of this totalitarian police state then I think we need to be super active on social media and say it like it is. That's where the war is being fought.

It seems to me that every MP thinks they know what is best, but how can anybody know what is best when a situation like this has never occurred before?

Once again they have lost the ability to work together & do their best for this country to succeed.
That is very well said Twink..I think that is exactly right..

Re: A Genuine Question for Remain Posters

Realist there was a leave guy on the radio this morning saying that a no deal would cause economic devastation in the short term. Both leave and remain are acknowledging that is the case. "Hardship" is the softer term being used by pro-leave speakers. I've even heard Nigel say the same. I have no idea why everyone thinks that view is a remain conspiracy. It's basic common sense that such a move would cause great disruption to the business community, logistics, public services etc. It's ostrich behaviour to think otherwise. The only reason that crashing out is being pushed is because some would make a killing on the stock market playing off currencies and other financial instruments. Perhaps you are one of them given that you are so self sufficient these days?

Brexit will happen eventually, it's inevitable. I've no idea why everyone is so determined it has to happen overnight and not over an extended period of adjustment. Can anyone explain to me why this is so desperately urgent?

Re: A Genuine Question for Remain Posters

They won't work together. May is as bad as Corbyn in that respect. Same as all the sheep on both sides are equally as opposed to everything their counterparts come out with.
It's all to do with wanting to be "right" and the need to not back down to the other side. It has sweet nothing to do with looking after our country.
They're all a bunch of hypocritical, self-smug middle class 'newarks' (anag.) who don't give a t0ss about any of us unless we have money to throw at them.

I’m not being pious it just that I deal with complex contracts every day so tend to take particular note of the remit and termscand conditions on all documents

I did happen to read the final draft of the 2011 UK referendum bill that contained amendments from parliamentu to the House of Lords proposals and it was made clear what referenda could and couldn’t do one of which was that they should only be advisory and the 2015 EU referendum bill followed those guidelines.

Parliament is Sovereign therefore referendums cannot be constitutionally binding on parliament or government although the result should be taken into consideration which Theresa May believes she has done so the result hasn’t been ignored it’s just not what others want. Whether that circle an be squared remains to be seen

Cameron made statements that were patently not true the politicians in the leave campaign would have known that, after all they were instrumental in passing the bill yet nobody said anything. This is why MPs are doing what they are doing

Because we're losing money to the EU every day, and for what?
