Anyone in planting mode?

I've been sneaking out between storms to tidy the little greenhouse and plant seeds.
I've been saving the free packets from magazines and bought a few from The Range.

I have about 14 trays done so far, salvias and hollyhocks just peeping up!

Lidl had some raised planters with lids, I bought two for vegetables as I have no room in the garden yet, still trying to move chippings and re-do bits.

It's exciting waiting for seedlings to pop up!
(I don't get out much )

Anyone else started planting yet?

Too wet here still. I'll buy a few bedding plants later from car boot sales, for my boxes/planters, they are cheap & usually grow well.

Re: Anyone in planting mode?

Yes, there has been few chances to dodge the rain but yesterday i managed to get some trays of seeds done in the potting shed....when i nipped out to get some water my 1 year old dog ran in and pulled down one if the trays, i swept the spills up back into pots so dont know what will, if anything be in there. Naughty boy,. Also moved two large shrubs and planted a witch hazel which i'd had in a pot. A good start...

Not planting but have been out there today trying to tidy up a bit. I think it is a bit too early to appreciate anything yet, we need more sun.

Re: Anyone in planting mode?

I was going to prepare the raised bed for early potatoes but it is still too wet and it was so windy again today my eyes were streaming and I couldn't see what I was doing.

Better weather forecast for next week so I hope to do some gardening then .

I've had a tidy up in the garden but it's too wet out there to do anything else.

I no longer plant my own seeds and just buy the young plants - even they are getting more difficult to plant as I can't bend down so well now!

Well done with your efforts Tess!

Re: Anyone in planting mode?

I've got a few veg seeds going in the greenhouse and I've set some peas in the veg garden which are usually pretty hardy. Certainly ready for a few warmer days though,... and nights...

That's a shame Swim!
I know how you feel. When I moved in here it was during the Beast from the East, then a hot summer I lost loads of plants that I brought with me.

Make a plan for what to replace them with and redesign your flower beds, that helps.

I've had a twitchy dibber for a few weeks Mags!
I've got an extendable trowel which helps with the planting, no bending if I can help it!
