Very true Rainmaker as is just the old saying, that in every equal society some are always more equal than others...

AFAIK all the contenders are Remainers, presumably soon to become Rejoiners

That's just the thing to win over the electorate!
How on earth do any of them expect to win the next election?
If one looks at the voting patterns across the age demographic it is horrifying "in your face" that if the 18 to 13 were to vote then Labour / Momentum would have romped into office in spite of, or probably because of the "Corbyn" policies.

If BREXIT had not been an or rather THE issue then the Conservative majority might well have been wiped out or at least very much reduced and the SNP result considerably reduced.

Brexit wasn’t mentioned in the Tory election leaflets up here. They fought the election on stopping indyref2 and lost half their MPs. Labour had Corbyn and were anti-indyref2, result near wipeout! SNP fought on Indyref2, result- 48 of the 59 seats. Brexit was rejected by Scotland but there’s nothing we can do about it due to an unequal populated Union. Politically, we’re poles apart, time for an amicable parting of the ways.

BREXIT did not need to be mentioned. It was the Conservative candidates who were so pro BREXIT that ensured the huge majority that the Conservative gained in addition to the revulsion decent people felt at the Momentum/Labour agenda.

As for a parting of the ways which I assume you mean independence from England, to start with there is a need for HMG to agree to allow such a referendum, secondly that Scotland could afford independence from the English tax payer, and thirdly that the number of people who, if such a referendum was to be permitted some time in the future, wake up and smell the coffee in time to realise that they're on a good thing with the status quo.

HOWEVER if such a referendum was to be held in which English voters had a say I have no doubt that Scotland would be set loose in a trice and start building a physical and financial barrier before the day was out.

Same old...same old. No wonder the SNP are doing so well. Maybe you should ask Westminster for an English Independence Referendum? Good luck with that one..,

I am over fifty so therefore old I suppose.
I was really commenting on the demographics which show the correlation between old age and voting conservative.
I think it dates back to the days of forelock tugging and respect for their "betters".
