But do we know they are not sport shooting ? All we have been told is they have gun licences so far.

I don't support guns being given out willy nilly the gun culture in USA is pretty scary but if everyone else has one I would guess it's safer to give one to everyone.

Personally I would ban guns completely but some cultures would never manage that because it's out of control.

When I had a gun, I used to go to the shooting range, I might as well have been blind, never hit the target & those around me used to duck!
Perhaps the guy just got tired of living, what a way to go!

Think we are agreed then - the police had 'no' choice .....

Oh there is always a choice and standing back and waiting it out is as valid as shooting and would have not cost a man his life.

I was quite good at darts but shooting, erm, no. I tried archery and took all the skin off my forearm and guns, my hand just flies up in the air (and with a rifle, I'm amazed my teeth stayed in my mouth) so had it been me shooting, the old chap would've been quite safe.

Re: 107 year old shot dead by police

Anyone, despite their age, holding a loaded gun and aiming at someone is potentially a killer and will be more than aware that armed Police will shoot them down if they believe the lives of others are threatened.

I've no sympathy, despite his age.

It would be an ideal world if weaponry was made illegal across the globe, but this isn't an ideal world, sadly, so steps have to be taken to ensure the safe-keeping of others, even if it does mean killing one to keep the masses safe.

That's the trouble with the Yanks. They're so gung-ho and have the right to bear arms, which is a tragedy, whereas here in the UK it is illegal, except for people like farmers to have a licence for shot-guns to shoot vermin or anything else which may threaten their livestock.

Here in the UK there is no licence required for a pellet gun or air gun which can kill birds and wildlife, and to me only the lower forms of humanity would want to do that for fun in their sad quest for what they call sport, so they too should be made illegal, but that's just my opinion.

You should have used an arm guard to stop that, women's arms bend back further than men's so women usually use an arm guard to prevent losing too much skin !

My niece used to be really good archer, only stopped when she got Meningitis and never really got back to it, must ask her if she would like to try it again, would give me a chance to have Grace more often (completely selfish of me LOL).

Of course they could have used a better gas, the one they used was useless, it didn't seem to effect him.
I would have thought an old man of 107 had to drop to sleep sooner or later, it certainly makes you think about guns, if they hadn't have been legal, he might be alive today.
