Re: How often.

My fitness has gone downhill a lot since developing Polymyalgia rheumatica. Now it's under control with steroids I'm trying to restart my fitness regime.

I go to keep fit classes at my local centre but to be honest they're for older people and aren't very energetic.

I used to go hill walking - 5 or 6 miles but need to build my fitness up before I can do it again (if ever)

With this in mind I've chosen a steep hill near us - it takes 20 minutes to walk up it and I try to walk up it 4 or 5 times a week - eventually intending to go hill walking again.

Re: How often.

I'm ashamed to say I don't exercise at all unless you can call looking after grandkids exercise....not bragging here but I am fitter and healthier than most folks my age even my doctor tells me that.

Edited to say....hope I'm not tempting fate saying that.

Re: How often.

I spend about an hour in the gym, twice a week. Apart from that I walk quite a lot as we have two active dogs. I also do exercises at home, but without any equipment. I would like to start pilates. I am told it is very good for you.

Re: How often.

I have been physically active since I was a wee boy, I am now approaching 55 but still exercise 6 days a week as well as take the dog lots of walks. I say this not to make something of it but to give a backdrop regards my approach to exercise.
It has become so ingrained into my personality that I am not me unless I am keeping fit.
That said, I also enjoy wine and my campervan so I'm not a complete exercise nut! lol

Re: How often.

I like walking but these days it's just simply getting around rather than walking somewhere for pleasure out in the countryside. I suppose I clock up about 12 to 15 miles a week which may not be unusual, but I do love my weight-training sessions 3 times a week.

It would be nice to see some greenery and, even better, some hills, fauna and flora as I walk, but I live in an urbanised area so the view isn't much of a balm for the soul. I'd love to go for a proper ramble!

Re: How often.

I don't think I ever answered this question, Pauline. I run 5-6 days per week, do step aerobics 6 days per week, practice yoga intermittently, cycle when it suits me, and surf whenever it's shoulder high, fairly glassy, and warm enough that my feet won't go numb.

What's happened to the recent posts?.....

What a lovely way to put it, Foxy! From how you explain the feelings after a run, it sounds like its the way I feel after being out on the bike, or a good walk.

Oh....yeah, what happened to the recent ones? Is it because this is an older thread? Should we start a new one?

Thanks for your lovely comment Pixie, and yes, it's amazing how good you can feel after a good workout.....and it keeps you coming back for more...

It doesn't usually happen with old threads Pixie, some threads have been regurgitated intact from the 19th century....
