Storm in a Teacup

It seems we have all been doing it wrong, myself included, by using boiling water to make our tea. I recently switched to using loose tea instead of bags, but I still pour boiled water into the pot. I don't think I'll be using this latest theory!

Never used tea bags but the article sounds like bollox to me. I preheat my teapot and use a tea cosy too, nothing worse than lukewarm tea

Makes you wonder how some of these people obtain the title of 'Expert.'

Re: Storm in a Teacup

I've always made tea in a pot using teabags. First warm the pot with boiling water, empty, add teabags, add water that's just off the boil (approx 90-95°C). Let it brew for 3mins 30 secs. Pour into cup or mug. Add milk and sugar to taste.

Never drink tea but M M does .
We use teabags
I always rip them before putting them in the compost bin.
They don’t biodegrade

Don't they biograde anyway?

OK.
''But are you aware that some tea bags actually contain plastic?''

''This problem is linked to tea bags where the actual bag itself is made out of plastic material, not the paper bags that are more common.''

I dunno..........

Re: Storm in a Teacup

someone I knew never used teabags because he said they were rinsed in chlorine.

I like really hot tea so this advice is just rubbish.

Re: Storm in a Teacup

I love tea and use teabags over tea leaves, but I wouldn't mind using them. Making tea on water that isn't piping hot wouldn't appeal to me at all. Interesting read though, the link, thank you.
