Is Family Christmas to be legally Wrecked?

I am overhearing whispers, from my offspring, not aimed at me but aimed at each other when any of them get together, about how they are going to manage their Christmas Bubbles.

They are worried that, should Covid Management continue as it is, their bubbles will be full and there will be a problem planning for Grandies to visit.

There must be many families, such as this one which have, traditionally, had get togethers numbering up to, about, 24, including Great Grandchildren, etc., on the Christmas Days., for which it will be a big problem.

The only answers, if we are not to spoil it for everyone, seem to be each family does it's own thing in it's own home, or, Grandparents find an excuse to opt opt of the celebrations thus making it easier to split into groups.

Do you have it all planned?

Or will you just ignore the "rules"?

Re: Is Family Christmas to be legally Wrecked?

We had our family Christmas last week, while we could. My son, Daughter and Grands came up for a long W/E. On Sunday we had a big Christmas Meal but with beef not turkey and were all to stuffed to move so we sat in the den watching DVDs and chatting. We exchanged Christmas gifts and had a lovely lazy day.
Come the actual day it will just be the two of us and weather permitting we will head off with the horses for a few hours and have a nice dinner at night. Sorted.

Great Plan - shift the dates!

That is probably the best idea you had, reading the news this morning not good.

It's still highly exciting for the little ones who don't know much about the bad bits.

It also brings families together (or did do).

Even the TV is good - !

Re: Is Family Christmas to be legally Wrecked?

This has clearly been leaked to prepare everyone....

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54756950

It is a shame that selfishness is going to spoil Christmas for many who do care about it because some have ignored the simple fact that if people don't mix and take precautions when they really have to the virus won't spread so much.

I listened to a shocking programme on the radio where an ex student went back to interview students living in halls of residence, many there some who had tested positive for C19 had been having 'Corona parties' and all mixing together in the belief that it was 'better to get it now' and they had also been out shopping adding to the infection rate in Manchester.
When they heard people started dying one said 'Ooops sorry we didn't realise that would happen.''

Now it seem we all will have to pay the consequences for the actions of a few.

I can live without Christmas , I saw another lockdown coming at the start of September so purchased the gifts for my 5 grandchildren and wrapped the gifts already and they will be collected before the lockdown.

Re: Is Family Christmas to be legally Wrecked?

Like Muddy I really dont enjoy Christmas. I do it for my two beautiful granddaughters. They want me there . I stay 3 nights and I'm always pleased it's over and I can go home to my bed . I know some may say I'm miserable but I cant help it . I hate the materialism and over indulgence of toys and gifts and my daughter spends hundreds of £ on presants ( lucky they can afford it) but i dont like it . I try to explain to my girls that things will not make them happy if they do it's only for hours and then they will keep wanting . The girls are lovely but are materialistic because of over indulgence. Christmas morning presant unwrapping goes on for hours . It's too much

Establish a private business. Notionally employ up to (I think) it's up to 30 as employees.

Party on baby!
