Being home all day, and having a lifetime of experience seems to count for nought with some of these people.
Some are now even not letting a dog go unless you buy health insurance with it. Ruddy cheek.
Yes, this is true and not only due to Covid. A columnist in the D Mail had a real job getting a rescue dog and only succeeded after he mentioned it in the paper.

Re: Price of dogs

Anybody prepared to pay extortionate price must realize they are being ripped off. A relative lost her dog recently and would like to have the company of another but no way is going to pay the amounts some have asked for.

Re: Price of dogs

We don’t have a pound as such ( or at least afaik) we have dogs homes and shelters . I got my dog from a collie rescue and paid £200 for him he was 18 months old .
They have however just put on their website they are increasing the donation fee to £250 for a dog and £300 for a puppy .
However they are a great place and take in a lot of dogs not all are very adoptable ( a lot come from welsh farms And haven’t all been socialised very much ) my dog was a super dog with no bad habits at all he was terribly excitable but has calmed down now and being a collie has learned so much very quickly .
Other dogs they have come with health problems that cost a lot in vet bills .
So I expect that is why they have had to put their fees up .

Just looked up Battersea the big dogs home in London their fee is £155 for a dog and £ 185 for a puppy which sounds pretty reasonable.
