I'm still trying to work out what in the heck the EU has to do with us controlling our borders. From what I can see it's our own laziness.

The reason we have not controlled our borders' is because the tight arsed party would not spend money on border guards.

Yep,

Instead, they spend it on crap like the garden bridge (which didn't even happen!), and any other way they can think of to waste it.

It is more than that, this has been going on for more than twenty years, more than one party etc. it is simply inertia because the problem is too difficult to solve everyone steps aside and nobody is accountable. This is not politics but culture.

I see it as politicians who don't have the balls, and are too inept anyway. It could be solved if some of them actually had the will.
