The way the EU keep rubbing the USA up the wrong way it could well lead to a deal between the UK & the USA too.

Quite right! Biden will tell boris during the G7 what such a deal requires with respect to the NI protocol.

Biden's already peeved at the EU for weaponising the border and being the cause of renewed tensions on the island.

Any trade deal (and I really mean ANY) has to be of benefit to the farming sector so you can be sure that opening up Britain to Australian agricultural exports is front and centre of any negotiations for a FTA.

Look at Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) objectives for trade with the EU

...and with the UK

Agriculture is always the first thing mentioned.
Last year boris repeatedly declared he would be quite satisfied to get the same deal with the EU as they had with australia.
At present he has the same deal with australia as the EU. He must be quite satisfied.

I'm sure he will be satisfied when the deal is signed in June and it takes us another step closer to CPTPP membership too.

As for the EU: how is the Mercosur deal coming along?
It's only been 22 years in the making so far, so when is the deal going to be signed-off?

Hi

What is all the fuss about CPTPP?

We already have the Free Trade Agreements with the major members ,.

Apart from the publicity value, it is worthless to the UK.

China, India and Russia are the big prizes.

We can forget the USA, it was hugely protectionist with Trump and Biden is the same.

Very different people, but with a common aim, to bring production back to the USA.

"Membership of CPTPP would hitch the UK to the fast-growing Pacific region. It also helps us strengthen our ties with some of our key international allies like Canada, Singapore and Australia.

This to me is about strengthening the group of countries that believe in free trade but also believe in the rules-based global system."
