I had my first plane trip to the UK when I was two in 1952. The airport was pretty basic and you had to take your own cases across the grass to the plane on the runway. We were give cotton wool for the ears and a barley sugar to suck by the airhostess, as the planes weren't pressurised in those days.

Our trip to Tunisia was like that. The children even rushed up to the plane trying to sell fluffy toy camels on a tray, That was back in 1972, things must have changed by nowm
