Common sense says yes and there obviously are implied performance factors however the consumer is at the end of the dust to rust path. The gotcha is where there is someone along that path that specifies what he buys and the end user.
For example if I want to buy a micrometer then I could buy a Mitutoyo thing beast, a make that is pretty much the dogs danglies or an el-cheepo thing for under a tenner.
If I then put my name on it while they both look similar --- well the rest is obvious.
Both will have been manufactured to my spec, both might say made in Japan, but they will be very different after a very short time.
Actually I'd not bother with a mike' these days. I've got a digital caliper that cost me a fiver on eBay. It's very high quality because it complies with all my requirements and perhaps remarkably it's accurate to ± 2 last digit! - For a fiver!
