BEIJING (Reuters) - A Beijing district official said on Saturday the district was in "wartime emergency mode" following a spike in novel coronavirus cases centered around a major wholesale market there.Chu Junwei, an official of Beijing's Fengtai district, said at a briefing that throat swabs from 45 people, out of 517 tested at the district's Xinfadi market, had tested positive for the new coronavirus.

Totally agree about the air travel, Donkeyman.And who can possibly be surprised if they have a second virus started?
I said many pages back, that if this really all started in the meat markets (which I personally do not believe), then it makes no sense whatsoever to let these markets carry on as if nothing has happened, with their horrendous treatment of animals and filthy lack of hygiene control?
It makes no sense. Why didn't they clear these markets away for good?
Why risk exactly the same again? And now it seems - is has.

If it did, why was the young Doctor who warned his colleagues about a new Sars-like virus arrested? Surely they would not have arrested him for that unless they had something to hide?
And did he really die of the virus?

I don't do Facebook, but my friend does, and she says there are no end of conspiracy theories and accusations like this on there.

Talking of these appalling Chinese meat markets, there are a lot more alarming facts coming to light too.A Professer Irvin Modlin of Yale University Medical School is concerned about the risk of disease transmission resulting from the booming trade in bones of lions shot in 'canned hunting' operations.
These animals are bred in appalling and unsanitary conditions before being killed by trophy hunters in fenced-in enclosures.
The hunter then takes the skull and skin to a taxidermist to be transformed into a 'Trophy.'
The skeletons often then end up in China where they are turned into 'Lion Wine!
Then there's the Asian Black Bears which are bred and kept in captivity to be cruelly 'milked' for the bile in their gall bladders which is again used in several traditional Chinese medicines.
Polar bears can be legally shot in Canada by trophy hunters.
Some have been shot for their penises. The penis bone from bears is highly sought after for it's alleged medicinal benefits.
In North America, a recent upsurge in sightings of 3-legged Black Bears is thought to be linked to the growing demand by wealthy Chinese consumers for Bear paw soup!!!
There are many more examples, and so much more going on abroad than we in this country haven't a clue about.
Maybe these virus's are natures way of pay-back for the inhuman treatment and growing abuse of other creatures who have as much right to be here as we have.
Donald Trump is a donor/fundraiser for these hunters.
You will remember Cecil the Lion no doubt. The animal shot with a bow & arrow by that American dentist bloke. That beautiful animal was found dying, still choking on his own blood 11 hours later.
I'd best stop ranting, but at least I have given some disgusting examples of what the Chinese do.
