You’re invited for dinner but told to worry about bringing anything.

Do you take heed and show up with nothing?
Or do you assume that it was just the ‘socially acceptable & polite way to answer and bring something anyway?

If you decide to bring something, what will it be?

1/ a bottle of good wine
2/ homemade dessert
3/ bouquet of flowers
4/ box of chocolates
5/ store bought dessert
6/ a salad
7/ some appetizers
8/ an after dinner drink
9/ a box of beer
10/ dinner rolls

I’m bringing a Chardonnay and a bouquet of handpicked wild lupins and light and dark purple wild irises.

I would always take wine and flowers.....I would ask if they want me to bring dessert.

Wine and chocs.
I just couldn't buy a bunch of flowers and carry them about for all to see me.

I would bring some appetizers and wine I think. And then say I just picked them up while passing, making it sound really casual. They wouldn't know I had spent half the morning in M&S agonising over what to bring! I am honestly quite bad at these things

Yep. I'd take a nice bottle of red or white depending on what my hosts like. If it's a day time BBQ in summer I'd take some beers to add to the ice bin.
