Growing Apple tree

This has been grown from a pip I suppose. It was with another 2 that was found under my Apple tree, which is a dwarf variety. I had replanted them in this pot and a pity that this is the only one to survive.
What I need to know, how does it make branches, or do I need to help it?

Hello Emjay, I don't know if this is of any help or not, but see what you think.

Thanks Mups. It seems I have done it all wrong. Fruiting in 8-10 years? Forget it.
I shall just see what happens with it.

Oh well, maybe the books aren't always right.
You must have done something right to get this far.
Good luck.
