Re: Greetings from Galloway, Scotland

Here's one i made earlier, its made from Iroko and Sycamore and life sized we have the real thing here and love watching them fishing. I also had a lucky find this week and got a 6ft x 4ft solid Oak dining table to cut up for more projects at a bargain price of £5.00 ok its scratched but once i have run it through my planer thicknesser its new timber as saves throwing away good wood.
Hope ya like it
Brian

Fantastic! I know it's a different thing entirely but I spotted this carving on the back of a wooden bench the other day...

That's lovely, I have fancied making a new Bench for my patio for my late wife with some of her favourite wildlife carved into it. We once saw a beautiful bench in Argyll with Barn Owls carved into to it who'ever made it did a brilliant job as it was very realistic.
Thanks for posting this bench

Hi from a fellow Scot, albeit from much further north.
The Rhins and Machars should be good for your interest in wildlife.

Good folks on this forum. Enjoy!

Thankyou glad you like him.......I only make wildlife that's here in Scotland although I am working on a 5ft wide one with 2 Clydesdales complete with cart and driver.....bit more detailed than the Otter with 2000+ parts all wood apart from the chains on the harness and leather reins still loads to do and hopefully finish this year. Its all made from Oak, Sycamore, Beech, Walnut etc and had to learn how to do miniature sign writing to paint the cart logos which was tricky with my shaky hands but seems to look ok for now.
Cheers
Brian
