Triffids :) A new source of vegetable. Lol

Green Beans gone over, and the broad beans. That frost yesterday morning finished them off.

Bush beans seem ok though.

The meak shall inherit the Earth?
The meak must be weeds?
Weed killer or frost,weeds survive?
Lol.

Veg die,weeds survive!

Maybe we should start growing and eating weeds? Lol.

Nettle soup anyone? One of my penpals buys them At the market to put on pizzas.

Dandylions? Medicinal purposes and great in salads, but never tried myself!

Hah, you're right Gaz, I always say the same as you.

How come our flowers and veg die from cold, wet, drought, snow, disease, aphids etc, but the damn weeds seem unaffected by anything!

Here is some info on what is edible should we feel like experimenting:

Nettle soup is delicious - and good for you.
So is Cleavers Soup - which is good for the blood.
You can eat most parts of the Hawthorn - leaves, flowers and berries.
Lime leaves taste good in salads
Acorns can be ground into flour - which makes great cakes/bread.
Beech leaves - when just out of bud are delicious in salads.
Beech Mast/nuts can be pressed for oil.

No-one need starve!

Or go thirsty .....

When I lived in the wilds of Wales, I made nettle wine, beer and tea, dandelion wine, beer and tea plus gorse wine (amongst other, more esoteric, experiments with "weeds" .....

Don't know about humans, Gaz, but Acorns (and conkers) cancertainly harm dogs.
See here from the Kennel Club:

Acorns

Poisoning from acorns is most likely to occur in the autumn months when these fruits have fallen to the ground. A one off feast of acorns is likely to cause vomiting, diarrhoea, both of which may be bloody, and may cause the dog to become sleepy. Eating acorns regularly may cause kidney or liver problems, while eating large amounts may cause an obstruction.
