Re: Dunkirk

Watched Dunkirk last night. Stunning to say the least. It helped that I had read about Dunkirk in some depth beforehand although it's not essential as this film pulls you along at a terrific pace. For those that want more understanding, especially that "boots on the sand" feel, then you should read Dunkirk Spirit by Alan Pearce. This is a novel but based on serious research. I simply can't praise the book enough and recommend it to anyone who loved this film and wants more.

Re: Dunkirk

Just seen this terrific work of genius, which I won't refer to as a movie. I prefer to call it a true life documentary.
Impressed is not the word I would use. I was knocked out by it. Stunning is every respect.

Re: Dunkirk

Couldn't agree more Floydy, it's the only film I have ever seen where there was a round of applause at the end. Have to admit I got quite emotional it was such powerful stuff.

Ladies yes, Tom Hardy was wonderful as usual but the film was the star. Tom is a spitfire pilot in it so his lips are covered by a mask most of the time...still gorgeous though.

Just back from seeing Dunkirk.
Absolutely fantastic .
It was so thrilling yet poignant .
Somehow I think we have lost the Dunkirk spirit .
great film
Ps there were a few woman in it as nurses.

I'd love to see this film but there's no way my wife would go, she hates war films of any discription,

Re: Dunkirk

I am planning to see this with my son and his wife next week. He informed me yesterday evening that he hopes we can get in at the Imax in Birmingham, as a lot of the aerial footage was shot in Imax.
