No its not Swimmy.

IR35 is about business owners not being able to reclaim VAT or pre-tax expenses, no entitlement to holiday pay or sick pay, maternity pay or paternity pay, no non-contributory pension, no redundancy pay, no golden handshake or any other workers rights. It makes business owners second class workers.

Here is an example :

An electrician operating as a limited company, has one client on a big contract that lasts 2 years. Because of this he comes under IR35 and no longer can claim VAT back on fuel, pre-tax expenses, such as hotels, food, tools, equipment etc. He also doesn't get any holiday pay - but he still pays the same tax as if he was an employee.

Would you be happy working under IR35 conditions Swimmy if you owned a business ?
