I'd recently lost the previous dog and was......shall we say.... upset
My boss knew how much he meant to me and she phoned me and said that when I was ready for another dog she wanted to buy it for me because she felt it was a way for her to show her appreciation of all I did for her and her family.
She gave me an upper limit of £2000
It only cost her £300 in the end though.

I got a coffee machine. The darn thing scared the life out of me, it spat, hummed & shook, I only tried to use it once. It's still in the depths of the loft somewhere.

When I left school I was an office junior in a tiny department (4 staff, 1 Manager, cramped in a small office). The other lady was much older than me, and bought me an enormous pair of red silk knickers for Christmas!
