A neural network driven knowledge based system. It related to the diagnosis of large stored program control telephone central offices.

Its completion coincided with a change in direction of my career to becoming an industrial whore!

I had done a bit of globe trotting by then. South Africa, the Far East and a few European destinations.

Married with three children, latest born in 1981.
And running the company we started in 1972.

Trying to survive, I was in S. Africa. My wages covered my rent and nothing much else, wasband had legged it rather than pay maintenance. I had to bring two small children back to England somehow.
I wouldn't want to repeat that year!

Re: What were you doing in 1984?

I had to look in my 1984 diary to see what l was up to in that year.

It was mostly mundane, bringing up four young children. Reading back, I now realise what lovely neighbours and friends l had.

In that year, we had new windows and a new kitchen. My sister got married.

I didn’t like reading, it was the year l looked after my neighbour’s dog a Dachshund. He stayed in her house and l fed him daily and let him out. One morning, l went in and he wasn’t well. I called the vet and in the meantime, the dog died.
It was awful having to tell her.

I also read, it was the year the IRA blew up Hotel Grand in Brighton where the Conservative Party conference was taking place. Norman Tebbit’s wife was left paralysed.
