Ah yes, Charles Laughton. A great actor of his time.

Re: Personality not looks

One thing I am pleased about is that none of my four grandsons 17, nearly 16, 15 and 13 have any interest in girls at present. I tease them that their mothers will soon be sweeping the girls off their doorsteps, and get a pitying look from them all. They have much better things with which to occupy their minds like their school work and the activities they enjoy.

Don't you believe it for a minute Tara. Of course I don't know your grandsons personally, but if they are typical of any other youngsters at that age, It's probably more a case of them not telling you anything about what they get up to with their young friends and the girls, rather than they not having any interest in girls.

My lot were socialising with girls and bringing them home for tea and cake by the time they were 14! as did all of their friends. I find it hard to believe that none of your grandsons at the ages of 17, 16, 15 and perhaps the 13 year old, have no interest in girls at present, sorry.

I know exactly what they get up to. The eldest, who home schools himself, is crazy about trains, not girls, and spends a lot of his spare time travelling around this country and abroad. He runs a forum for others who are equally train mad. His brother, 15, says girls are boring and is more interested in saving the planet. The one who is nearly 16 spends his weekends coaching young lads football, something at which he is extremely good, apparently. His parents have to take him a distance to the club for which he is working. The youngest lad is not interested in socialising apart from the kick boxing he enjoys, and usually spends much of his time in his room, either doing his school work, or computer games.

Why would you be pleased that the older boys have no interest in girls?? Most boys and girls of 17 have a healthy interest in sex, its human nature.

He has Asperger's syndrome, and trains are his obsession. Maybe one day he might find a girl who will take him on, as I did with his grandfather, but I can't see that happening soon, even though many girls would consider him very good looking.

I have no doubt the other three boys will get interested in girls sooner or later, but at present they have other things, which interest them more.

Our granddaughter is only 11 so it is a little early for her to be thinking of boys at present, she thinks they are all a pain in the neck like her brothers.
