Re: Meanwhile in France ...

the simple thing is the EU are now worried what will happen to them when we leave ,with or without a deal.

Their ideal of a united europe has gone down the pan and they are starting to panic at the least few moments. I recon they will do a complete U turn (the italians are experts at doing this)

They will do anything at the last moment to save their precious ideal

Donks, for every visit of you and any other leaver, your mp is visited by a remainer. Don't forget, in 2016, about half of the voters wanted to leave, the other half wanted to remain. Your mp has to chose, which half of your/his constituency he serves. Yours or the other half.

The EU have been preparing for a no deal ever since january this year. You started a month ago. Worry is all on UK side.

The UK has geographically never been a part of the EU. Emotionally you were never there. Now you exclude yourself economically, to your own detriment.

The deal is an offer to you. You don't need to take it, but there is nothing other coming.

Much of the measures are to maintain a stable transport to and from the EU to ireland. Much of that goes by truch from calais to dover, right through england and by boat to ireland. That is the EU's main concern to keep goods moving. Not to get goods to or from england for england, that trade will come to a halt.

The eu need not worry about trucks passing thro england
to lreland Solly just move the ferries from calais to
Bologne, then a short voyage to lrish port of choice?
This would also ease the bottleneck on the M25? And cut
Emissions in uk!

I would prefer rotterdam over bologne, the belgians antwerp over bologne, but it seems the irish are loath to pay the extra transportation costs. For that reason the EU has laid down a multitude of mini deals (some in this forum consider them a benefit for the UK) solely for the benefit of unhampered transport from france to ireland.

Yes, that would be an important factor in negotiating a trade deal with the EU. But to do that you first have to ratify the withdrawal deal.
As you know, barnier has told time and again that in all cases that deal will come on the table, and unless it is honoured, no trade negotiations and no power to show.
