Re: Would you tell?

Well I must be the odd one out, because if it was a mate, of course I would give them some stick over it, same as they probably would me. I would only be joking though.

I wouldn't say anything if it wasn't a close friend though.

I found that out when I started making cards, the layered decoupage age ones cost more to send 'cos they don't fit through that annoying slot

Re: Would you tell?

Those cards that have a type of pin badge, the kind that children affix to the lapel of their jackets, or those cards with the 'wobbly' eyes are often thicker than the 5mm allowed, if sent with an ordinary 1st or 2nd Class stamp these fall foul of stupid 'rules' and additional cost.

When I was working running a business I often used to get A4 sheets of copy sent in an A4 envelope with just an ordinary 2nd Class stamp, these also fall foul of the 'rules'. All that needed to happen was for the copy to be folded in half so that it fitted into an A5 envelope. What a rip-off all this is, the size, thickness of the items matters not one jot in posting terms but it's a way the Royal Mail can rip us off. I stopped all that with the A4 and A5 envelope saga, I would not pay the additional postage for a start, the item was returned to sender. I then insisted all copy etc. was e-mailed to me, also I started invoicing and having payments made online, no cheques, so Royal Mail lost the whole lot just for the sake of a few pence! Greedy ba^*<*ds that they are!

Re: Would you tell?

It happened to me at Christmas, a couple of years ago and l started a thread on here about it as l was so incensed with Royal Mail.

The fact that you have to make a special journey between a certain time and then pay a fee, is so annoying.

Ringing up the telephone number on the card they leave, is a waste of time as you just get an automated message.

In my case, a friend of mine had put a stamp on but the Christmas card was too big and should have had a higher value stamp on it.

I went to the sorting office to get the letter. You are allowed to scrutinise it as the postal worker holds it up and choose if you want to pay the charge. Or leave it.
I recognised the writing of a very dear friend, so l paid up.

I never said it to her as she would have been mortified.

Yeah. I’d probably mention it in a joking playful type of way.

Would you tell the senders about it? It may not have been their fault - stamps do sometimes fall off.
Well, to be honest I don't find that too surprising.
After all, your friends probably live in Yorkshire, and you know how tight-fisted they are.
