Re: Who now supports fraccking???
I'm no ratbag greenie
but shouldn't both sides of the argument be aired here
just in case there is major long-term, irreparable environmental damage ?
(Man has made some tragic mistakes in the past).
This has become a major issue in Australia where vast cattle, sheep and agricultural areas rely very largely on underground water (aquifers).
These farmers and graziers claim that nearby Coal Seam Gas "fracking" is destroying their properties.
Some have closed down after generations on the land.
The process is very chemically intensive.
Some aquifers emerge to the surface here as ponds, billabongs or even small creeks - all previously pristine.
I have seen images from fracking areas where a lit object is thrown into one of these and the entire surface explodes into flames.
In 2012, the U.S. EPA stated that
"
compounds associated with hydraulic fracturing have contaminated the aquifer at or below the depths used for domestic water supply in the Pavillion (Wyoming)area".....
A "gag order" on physicians treating patients possibly exposed to fracking chemicals .... forbids them to say what they learn, including to their patients."
